2015-2023 NOAA NGS Color Coastal Oblique Imagery

The imagery posted on this site is in response to Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping requirements. The aerial photography missions were conducted by NOAA's National Geodetic Survey, Remote Sensing Division. Images were acquired from various altitudes ranging from 3,500 to 7,500 feet, using a Digital Sensor System (DSS) at a 37.5 degree look angle.

This imagery was acquired to satisfy a wide range of Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping (IOCM) requirements, such as emergency response and coastal zone management. It is not intended for mapping, charting or navigation.

The ground sample distance (GSD) varies between 15 to 35cm within the image. In an effort to acquire imagery in a timely manner, clouds may be present. Be advised that the bounding coordinates reflect the extents of the images acquired in the United States coastal zone. It does not imply full image coverage of the bounding box area.

Users must assume responsibility to determine the usability of these data. These photographs were obtained for use by NGS during the course of its development of potential final products to fulfill its statutory mission. Although NGS is making these photographs available to others who may find the photographs of value, NGS does not warrant, endorse, or recommend the use of these photographs for any given purpose. Users should be aware that temporal changes may have occurred since this data set was collected and some parts of this data may no longer represent actual surface conditions. Users should not use this data for critical applications without a full awareness of its limitations.

OS Independent

The accuracy's have not been assessed. The absolute horizontal positions should be in the 5-10 meter range in areas with little or no topographic relief.

The extent of image coverage is limited to the acquired flight lines which were planned to map the coastal zone and therefore may not include all areas within the bounding coordinates.
