Unique identifier for an individual or lot of Aprion virescens. If specimen was from a museum collection the same identifier is used. If specimen is in fact merely a record from the literature a unique identifier was created combining the date of either the survey or the publication, author initials and a unique sequential number to differentiate the specimen from others caught in the same tow.

Identification code for stations that qualitatively describes the station and distance to shore. The first character is either "W" or "L" denoting is station was on the wind ward or leeward side of O'ahu. The second one or two numbers denotes the ship's distance from shore in nautical miles. The next letter is either "D' or "N" denoting if the sample was collected during the day or night. Finally, the last number indicates if the station was the first or second replicate for that particular side, distance from shore and time of day.

Code for replicate, can either be one or two.

Last two digits of the year of the cruise and two digits incremental number of the cruise for the year.

Station number of the trawl operation.

Unique ID for a trawl operation, used as part of the presence/absence analysis in Tech Memo. Concatenated ship name, trawl date, station number and day or night time.

Maximum depth, in meters. Units for values are meters.

Length of larva measured from tip of nose to the caudal end of the vertebrae. Units for values are millimeters. Measures are reported with a precision of 3.

Standard length or total length, noted by SL or TL respectively.

Qualitative measure of dorsal spine presence on uku specimen. 0 denotes no spine present, 1 denotes yes, spine is present but too small to see serrations, 2 denotes yes spine is present and serrations were visible, blank/NA denotes that the larva was processed before spine size was considered).

Denotes whether size was measured during effort in 2022 or size value was obtained from the record.

This only applies to replicate one samples from TC8604 and both replicate one and two samples from TC8504. ALS had the counts of uku which had been identified from RB008AA1_V and went back through these samples to locate and measure the lengths of the previously identified uku.

The number of uku ALS was able to positively identify from a given sample vial (pooled specimens from the same cruise leg, station, net, replicate).

A consecutive number for each larva from a given trawl/net.

In order to keep track of which tows and depths had been sorted this allowed us to easily filter the dataset to view which tows had and had not been worked on.
