Description:

Pelagic (surface or mid-water) trawl nets, are designed to operate at various depths within the water column. They consist of a funnel-shaped net towed behind a boat to capture fish. The cod end, or ‘bag,’ is the fine-meshed portion of the net most distant from the towing vessel where fish and other organisms larger than the mesh size are retained.
