| Description: |
Hydraulic dredges are used to harvest clams using pressurized water jets to wash clams out of the seafloor. The water jets penetrate the sediment in front of the dredge and help to propel the dredge forward. A blade on the front of the dredge then lifts the clams that have been separated from the sediment, and guides them into the body, or “cage,” of the dredge. |
