Summary
The Program Information Management System (PIMS) system was created as an initial step towards developing a scalable, customizable, web-based, database-driven application that allows ST-sponsored programs to communicate project funding opportunities and manage the full life cycle for projects from RFP initiation through project completion. The predecessor of this application was MDMS 3.0 which was buily in ApEx technology which was supporting MRIP RFP process.

Abstract: |
The Program Information Management System (PIMS) system was created as an initial step towards developing a scalable, customizable, web-based, database-driven application that allows ST-sponsored programs to communicate project funding opportunities and manage the full life cycle for projects from RFP initiation through project completion. The predecessor of this application was MDMS 3.0 which was buily in ApEx technology which was supporting MRIP RFP process. |
Purpose: |
PIMS will focus on three specific areas: (1) the collection of additional information management details and integration with the NMFS Information Portal (InPort) metadata repository to fulfill increasing information management requirements, (2) the enhancement of project workflow and reporting functionality to include annual/final report and peer review functionality, and (3) modification of the system design to allow for broader use of the application and metadata management by other RFP team across Office of Science and Technology. |
Notes: |
PIMS - Current Capabilities: 1) Customizable for different RFP 2) Produces project reports for managers 3) Automated website updates 4) Tracks project research and publications 5) Peer review and IQA certification for final report of RFPs and publication Metadata collection and automated publication to InPort (pending) |
Supplemental Information: |
This new application will be scalable to accommodate different programs and will allow for the customization of workflow, forms and fields. |
