Abstract:

The North Pacific Albacore Troll and Pole-and-line landings data set contains landings and transshipment data from U.S. vessels that unload in U.S. west coast ports, foreign ports, American Samoa canneries, and that transship their catches on the high seas

Purpose:

These data are collected for use in monitoring the fishery and stock assessments on north Pacific albacore and to fulfill reporting obligations of Pacific RFMOs and the USA-Canada Treaty.

Notes:

Landings that occur in USA west coast ports are obtained from PacFIN

Landings that occur in Canadian ports are obtained from logbooks.

Landings that occur in American Samoa are provided by PIRO - American Samoa

Landings that occur in foreign ports are obtained from logbooks and foreign fisheries agencies

Data Access Procedure:

Contact point of contact. Supply official request for data and purpose of that request.

Data Access Constraints:

Logbook data are confidential and can only be presented in summarized form to the public. However researchers with appropriate clearance can access the more detailed data. Those with access to confidential data need a signed non-disclosure agreement statement to access the detailed data. There are no constraints on access to summarized data.

Data Use Constraints:

All use of the data sets should be cleared with NMFS/SWFSC.
