VARCHAR2 		The NEMFIS Area, coded as the NAFO Statistical Area for federally collected data; a three digit code for internal state waters for state collected data. For 1994+ allocated data, if Area Level = A then NEMAREA is from the VTR trip. If Area Level = B, C,D then NEMAREA is selected from a group of VTR trips with similar trip characteristics on a probabilistic basis. If Area Level = X, then nemarea is unknown.
