Technical Environment

Description:

Oracle 11g data processing procedures

Data Quality

Representativeness:

Biological samples are collected based on sampling requirements provided by the stock assessment requirements

Accuracy:

Accuracy of species identification is determined by comparing the biological samples with the information from the fish dealer reports and the vessel trip reports.

Quality Control Procedures Employed:

Routine audits are run as the data is entered and post audits are run when the master data sets are created. The Age and Growth staff also run reports which produce age/length keys which are used to detect outliers.

Data Management

Have Resources for Management of these Data Been Identified?: Yes
Approximate Percentage of Budget for these Data Devoted to Data Management: Unknown
Do these Data Comply with the Data Access Directive?: Yes
Is Access to the Data Limited Based on an Approved Waiver?: Yes
If Distributor (Data Hosting Service) is Needed, Please Indicate: Yes
Approximate Delay Between Data Collection and Dissemination: 1 year
Actual or Planned Long-Term Data Archive Location: To Be Determined
If To Be Determined, Unable to Archive, or No Archiving Intended, Explain:

Data archived at NEFSC but may also be archived at TBD location.

Approximate Delay Between Data Collection and Archiving: 2 months
How Will the Data Be Protected from Accidental or Malicious Modification or Deletion Prior to Receipt by the Archive?:

Data is backed up as entered into the Oracle data tables

Lineage

Lineage Statement:

Data is collected by fisheries reporting specialist at the ports from fish processors; data is entered into a web-based data entry system by reporting specialist; age structures are sent to Age and Growth department for processing; age of fish are added to the age data set by Age and Growth staff; data is processed to master data format by database manager for CFDBS.
