Description:

The global unprojected Pathfinder SST files were received in 4km resolution.They were subset to the US and then assigned proper geofererencing coordinates.The images were reprojected, resampled down to 1.1km resolution, and subset againfor the final geotif output currently available. Software used was PCI Geomatica9.0 and EASI programming. The final Geotif files are 8 bit files. In orderto get SST (in degrees Celsius)from the 8 bit numbers the following equationshould be applied:SST (deg C) = ((8bit# * 0.15) + (-3.0))An EASI program was run on the output GeoTif files to create seasonal meansfrom the monthly SST data using the following months:Winter= December (of the previous year), January, February (of the following year)(Example: Winter 1985 = December 1984, January 1985, February 1985)Fall= September, October, NovemberSpring= March, April, MaySummer= June, July, August
