Description:

The monthly precipitation (mm) for all available weather stations in Puerto Rico was downloaded from NOAA National Climate Data Center (NCDC) (NODC Monthly Surface Data http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/climatedata.html). The maximum monthly precipitation for each weather station was estimated from all rainfall records between 1/1/1990 and 1/1/2001. Using the X,Y position of the station, a raster files was created, with the maximum month precipitation (mm) for Puerto Rico, Vieques and Culebra Islands was estimated by spatial interpolation in ArcGIS, using a regularized spline interpolation method with a weight of 0.1, using the 6 nearest points.
