Abstract

These data were collected by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration National Geodetic Survey Remote Sensing Division using a Riegl VQ820G system. The data were acquired from """+str(colbdate)+""" - """+str(coledate)+""". The data includes topobathy data in an LAS 1.2 format file classified as unclassified (1), ground (2), noise (7), water column (25), bathymetric point (26), toppbathy water surface (27), submerged object (29), and International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) S-57 object (30) in accordance with the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) classification standards. This data set may also include lidar intensity values. Not all delivered data contained the classifications listed above instead, please resort to the attribution below.

Purpose:

This lidar data are an ancillary product of NOAA's Coastal Mapping Program (CMP), created through a wider Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping initiative to increase support for multiple uses of the data. It is not intended for mapping, charting, or navigation. In addition, it will be used for ongoing research efforts for testing and developing standards for airborne lidar.

Notes:

Supplemental Information:

Data include all lidar returns. Outliers or false returns (e.g., returns from birds, atmospheric particles, and/or system noise) may be present in the data. An automated ground classification algorithm was used to determine bare earth point classification. It should be noted that not all returns were correctly classified; therefore the user should examine for acceptability.

Process Steps

Process Step 1

CC ID: 1137424
Description:

Data were processed to an initial LAS format using the Riegl RiProcess software. The Applanix POSPac software was utilized for GPS and inertial processing, and GeoCuen, Terrasolid, and LP360 software for data visualization, 3D editing, and export to final LAS file. Data were processed in NAD83 horizontal and vertical datum.

Process Date/Time: 2013-12-11 00:00:00

Process Step 2

CC ID: 1137425
Description:

The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received the files in las format. The files contained LiDAR elevation and intensity measurements. The data were delivered in UTM Zone 19 (NAD83). Although original metadata listed UTM 18 coordinates, the horizontal coordinates and geokeys were listed correctly for each file's header. The vertical elevations were ellipsoidal in meters referenced to Geoid12b. OCM performed the following processing for data storage and Digital Coast provisioning purposes:

1. The data were converted from UTM Zone 19 (NAD83) coordinates (meters) to geographic coordinates (decimal degrees) and vertical elevation values were left as delivered referenced to the Geoid12b model (meters).

2. Noise classifcations were dropped for dissemination.
