Abstract

This is a point dataset of elevations over the NE quadrant of the Mikesville quadrangle, Florida. The data were derived from LIDAR measurements performed in 2001. The data are 'edited' to the extent that they have been reduced to a 'bare ground' representation; most above ground level features and objects such as buildings and trees have been removed from these data.

Delivered points as unclassified bare-earth processed points. NOAA OCM reclassed all points to the Ground class

Distribution Information

Access Constraints:

None

Use Constraints:

Users should be aware that temporal changes may have occurred since this data set was collected and some parts of this data may no longer represent actual surface conditions. Users should not use this data for critical applications without a full awareness of its limitations. These data depict the heights at the time of the survey and are only accurate for that time.

Data Quality

Accuracy:

The Fundamental Vertical Accuracy (FVA) of the Classified Bare Earth files for the project area achieved an RMSE of 0.057 meters. One-hundred and Five (105) 'open terrain' survey control points were used in this evaluation, with an additional 20 'open terrain' points held in reserve and supplied to the client.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy:

Data products collected were acquired at manufacturers system specifications, with a nominal point spacing of 0.68 meters.; Quantitative Value: 0.30 meters, Test that produced the value: Acquired at or below 1500 meters above mean terrain (AMT) and have a horizontal accuracy of 0.30 meters (per manufacturers system specifications)

Vertical Positional Accuracy:

The Fundamental Vertical Accuracy (FVA) of the Classified Bare Earth for all Areas achieved is 0.057 meters at a 95% confidence level in the "Open Terrain" land cover category. One-hundred and Five (105) survey control points were used in this evaluation.; Quantitative Value: 0.057 meters, Test that produced the value: FVA of the classified bare-earth points

Process Step 10

CC ID: 1136924
Description:

The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received a HDD from the Suwannee River Water Management District office with relevant lidar data per project. The files contained lidar elevation and intensity measurements. The data were in State Plane Zone 903, NAVD88 (orthometric) heights in feet. OCM performed the following processing for data storage and Digital Coast provisioning purposes:

1. The data were converted from UTM coordinates to geographic coordinates.

2. The data were converted from NAVD88 (orthometric) heights in feet to GRS80 (ellipsoid) heights in meters using Geoid 09. Assumptions were made that the data is referenced to Geoid 09 based on the other SRWMD projects delivered having been reprocessing to a more up-to-date geoid model than was available at the time of collection.

3. The LAS data were sorted by latitude and the headers were updated.

4. Duplicate points and erroneous elevations were removed.
