Abstract

This Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) LAS dataset is a topographic survey conducted for the St. Louis District of the Army Corps of

Engineers and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) of Pine County, Minnesota.

The data were collected October 25 - November 4, 2006. The data cover approximately 1435 square miles and were collected at an

average of 3 meters point spacing. The LAS points in this data set are classified as unclassified and ground.

A footprint of the coverage for this data set may be viewed in Google Earth at:

Data Quality

Horizontal Positional Accuracy:

No information provided on the horizontal accuracy of this lidar data set.

Vertical Positional Accuracy:

The project requirements were for a vertical accuracy of 18 cm for bare earth, flat terrain, and 37 cm or better for hillsides at

the 95% confidence level for 4 foot contours.

The MN DNR did an accuracy assessment for the vertical accuracy. The RMSE for all land cover classes was 0.181 m. The Fundamental

Vertical Accuracy was 0.184 m. This report may be viewed at:

https://noaa-nos-coastal-lidar-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/laz/geoid18/533/supplemental/Pine_accuracy_report_012110.pdf

Completeness Report:

This lidar data represents the complete set of data as received by the NOAA OCM for Pine County, Minnesota.

Conceptual Consistency:

No information provided.

CC ID: 1138701
Description:

Lidar data collected and processed by Sanborn Map Company. No collection or processing information provided.

Process Date/Time: 2007-01-01 00:00:00

Process Step 2

CC ID: 1138702
Description:

The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received files in LAS format. The files contained LiDAR intensity and elevation measurements.

OCM performed the following processing on the data to make it available within Digital Coast:

1. The data were converted from UTM, Zone 15 coordinates to geographic coordinates.

2. The data were converted from NAVD88 heights to ellipsoid heights using Geoid03.

3. The LAS header fields were sorted by latitude and updated.
