Abstract

Herring Fishery Electronic Monitoring (EM) Project Data (EMREVIEW) contains data collected on commercial fishing vessels by em systems from 2016 - 2017. The data include detailed effort information as well as bycatch of finfish and protected species. Data is collected by trained video and gps sensors then video is video and data is recorded by trained reviewers a for scientific and fisheries management purposes.

Purpose

Data set was generated as part of a pilot project exploring the utility of EM to provide specific information about large at sea discard events (slippage).

Distribution Information

No Distributions available.

Access Constraints:

NEFSC Data Access Constraint:

Access as allowed by Magnuson-Stevens Fisheries Conservation and Management Act to only NMFS staff, Council staff, State Fisheries staff or other Federal staff responsible for fisheries management and enforcement.

If data is stored on an internal NEFSC network, the requester may not have direct access to query the data unless they are also authorized for network access.

Use Constraints:

Data can only be released to the general public in an aggregated format in order to protect the identity and business practices of the vessel/permit owner.

Access Information

Security Class: Sensitive
Data Access Procedure:

NEFSC Data Access Procedure:

1. Formal request in writing usually to the data owner/contact or Center Director;

2. Requester is contacted by data owner to review and verify the request content and details for data delivery options.

3. If data is confidential then owner will determine if the data may be released to the requester;

4. If data can be released, the data is downloaded and packaged for delivery electronically; or the requester may be directed to where the data is available online.

Data Access Constraints:

NEFSC Data Access Constraint:

Access as allowed by Magnuson-Stevens Fisheries Conservation and Management Act to only NMFS staff, Council staff, State Fisheries staff or other Federal staff responsible for fisheries management and enforcement.

If data is stored on an internal NEFSC network, the requester may not have direct access to query the data unless they are also authorized for network access.

Data Use Constraints:

Data can only be released to the general public in an aggregated format in order to protect the identity and business practices of the vessel/permit owner.
