Summary

Abstract

This dataset consists of images that were collected using a six-camera array: one thermal and one color camera pointing directly below the plane and two thermal and two color cameras pointing at an angle of 25 degrees off center below the plane. IR and RBG image collection was synchronized and corresponding images are associated by the timestamp in the file names. The right color camera was out of focus, so we only provide the cameras collected by the center and left pointing systems. We also excluded any images that were collected over land to avoid potentially sharing images where people could be identified.

The IR images have been limited to exclude those where the images collected while the IR camera was undergoing internal calibration. The RGB images have been limited to exclude those that were selected for manual review and to serve as a test set for machine learning model development. The IR and RGB images from flight 6 and 7 were further limited to include only those images collected when the plane's altitude was between 250 and 400 m and when the absolute value of the plane's roll was less than 10 degrees.

Description

A zipped file containing IR and RGB images. Data have been reviewed for errors and gross anomalies. Known issues in the data have been corrected. The right color camera was out of focus, so we only provide the cameras collected by the center and left pointing systems. The IR images have been limited to exclude those where the images collected while the IR camera was undergoing internal calibration. The RGB images have been limited to exclude those that were selected for manual review and to serve as a test set for machine learning model development.

Within the zipped file is a CSV file containing a list of IR and RGB images, with the flight, camera_view and dt extracted from the file names. IR and RGB image can be linked to one another and other data within this dataset by the flight, camera_view and dt fields.
