Summary

Abstract

This dataset consists of bounding boxes marking bearded seals and ringed seals found in the images that were collected during the 2019 Test Flights flown out of Kotzebue, AK. Bounding boxes were created using two processed. First, a seal detection algorithm was run on the RGB images. Seals with a score greater than 0.5 were manually reviewed. Second, during manual review, any seals that were found and missed by the detection algorithm were manually added to the dataset. The detections dataset was reduced to only include seals found on images in the Test Flight Imagery provided.

Seal detections can be linked to images based on the image name or the flight, camera_view, and dt fields.

Description

A csv file containing bearded seal and ringed seal detections in the IR and RGB imagery. Data have been reviewed for errors and gross anomalies. Known issues in the data have been corrected.

detection_score
numeric
Score assigned to the sighting by the detection algorithm. When the detection_type was changed from the original value, the detection_score automatically updates to 1.0

character
Color image name associated with the detection.

Denotes the left edge of the bounding box on the RGB image.
rgb_right
integer
Denotes the right edge of the bounding box on the RGB image.
rgb_top
integer
Denotes the top edge of the bounding box on the RGB image.
