Title: NAV_MARINE_POINT
Status: Completed
Publication Date: 2021-07
Abstract:

The NAV_MARINE_POINT table contains attribute information for the vector POINTS representing Navigational/marine areas, including anchorages, boat ramps, ferry terminals, lock and dam systems, and marinas found in the St. Mary's River System. The key field, HUNUM, links to the SOC_DAT table where attribute information for the vector POINTS in this data set are stored. A second field, TYPE, stores a 1-4 letter abbreviation of the mapped resource type. This field can be used to quickly identify feature types, and is used to symbolize the human use data layers.

See the Entity_and_Attribute_Overview for a detailed description of how the primary attribute tables relate to the geographic data layers. Also see the Browse_Graphic section for a link to the entity-relationship diagram, which describes the relationships between attribute tables in the ESI data structure. | Description Source: NOAA ESI Guidelines

Purpose:

The ESI data are intended to provide baseline environmental data for oil spill planning and response. The Clean Water Act with amendments by the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 requires response plans for immediate and effective protection of sensitive resources. The ESI data may be appropriate for many other coastal management efforts, though the original intent should be kept in mind.

Attribute Summary

Rubric Score Primary Key? Name Type Description
N/A
TYPE TEXT The human-use features depicted on the maps are those that could be impacted by an oil spill or could provide access for response operations. TYPE is used to symbolize the map; it can also be used as a quick identifier for the managed polygon features. Greater detail about the object is provided in the SOC_DAT table. | Description Source: NOAA ESI Guidelines
N/A
Primary Key HUNUM NUMBER A 9-digit identifier that links the SOCECON features to their related attributes in the SOC_DAT table. | Description Source: NOAA ESI Guidelines
N/A
MAPHUN NUMBER An identifier that is used in map production for legibility. This number is the same as HUNUM without the atlas specific prefix. | Description Source: Research Planning, Inc.
