Raw data available from Oct. 2, 1992 to May 14, 2016, at 5 day intervals, with a spatial resolution of 0.17 degrees (Latitude) x 0.17 degrees (Longitude). Dataset contains the fully corrected heights, in meters.


To support ocean planning activities pursuant to the Executive Order Regarding the Ocean Policy to Advance the Economic, Security, and Environmental Interests of the United States, the Energy Policy Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Rivers and Harbors Act, and the Coastal Zone Management Act.

(1) Data were downloaded from:*4*.

(2) NetCDFs were converted to raster datasets (in total 1,725 Files, ~26 GB).

(3) From the 5 day global composites, a monthly mean for every year was generated.

(4) The monthly means were averaged together for all years (1992-2016) so that each month of the year has a Mean, Min, Max, and STD raster data layer.

(5) Additionally the monthly averaged data were averaged by year, and all years 1993-2015 (n=23) were averaged together generating a raster for the Mean, Min, Max, and STD (1992 and 2016 were excluded due to missing monthly data which may skew the results).
