The dataset was built using the U.S. National Hydrography Dataset Plus (NHDPlusV2, 1:100,000 scale) stream network and value-added attributes (VAA), the U.S. National Elevation Dataset 10-meter digital elevation model, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration National Water Model recurrence interval flows, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) level 4-scale Hydrological Unit Code boundaries, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Level III ecoregion boundaries. Reaches in this dataset vary in length up to 200 meters. Reaches with unknown flow direction were removed from the original stream network.

File geodatabase of West Coast Salmon Attributes for Salmon Intrinsic Potential
These data were created in order to aid the mapping and GIS efforts for fishery management in the western United States. They can be used in the further development of the West Coast salmon EFH extent. Data were collected and aggregated from the best available sources at the time the layer was developed. Every attempt has been made to ensure the accuracy of these data; however, they DO NOT constitute a legal description of Essential Fish Habitat. Abstract: |
Purpose: |
This geospatial layer was developed in support of Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act for the Pacific Fishery Management Council. It includes calculated stream attributes for West Coast salmon Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) rivers spanning Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California. |
