Sampling Program for For-Hire Modes of Fishing

All for-hire vessel surveys should be designed to allow identification and representative sampling of charter, head, and guide boat trips for the purposes of post-stratification to ensure standardized comparisons among states.

All catch and effort surveys for for-hire fisheries will follow the RecFIN(SE) quality control and quality assurance documentation.

In 2000, the For-Hire teleophone survey was adopted as the official method for collecting effort data from the charter Guide Boat Fisheries. This methodology utilizes weekly telephone calls a 10% random Sample of charter & Guide Boat captains to obtain estimates

of fishing effort.
