Short Name: | SPECIES IDENTIFICATION AND MEASUREMENT |
Status: | Completed |
Abstract: |
Organisms were measured determine total length (TL) or carapace width (CW), as appropriate. Fish were measured and recorded in 10 mm TL intervals and non-penaeid shrimp and 'other crustaceans' in 5 mm length intervals. Fish were measured after being placed flat on their side with the mouth closed. TL was the distance from the snout to the tip of the longest caudal fin ray. TL was measured in millimeters for most penaeid shrimp from tip of rostrum to tip of telson, if the rostrum was intact. Carapace width (CW) of crabs was measured across widest part of carapace (from tip to tip of the lateral spines, if present). If lateral spines were broken, that individual was not measured. Hermit crabs were not measured. |
Notes: |
Counts must be divided by 2.6 to determine abundance/m2. Midpoint of size range represents midpoint of interval, not mean of actual measurements. Some penaeid shrimp were measured as RCL (rostrum + carapace length) instead of TL. RCL was recorded under the CL column and identified as such in comments. |
