Summary

Description

Immediately after drop trap deployment, field personnel pushed the sampler approximately 15 cm into the sediment to obtain a proper seal along the bottom of the trap to prevent escape of organisms. Vegetation in a sample was clipped at the marsh surface and removed to facilitate collection of animals. Dip nets were used to remove most enclosed fauna inside the sampler. Water was then pumped from the sampler through a 1-mm mesh plankton net. Animals retained were preserved in 10% formalin
