Organism Data Entry and Validation

Laboratory and field data were entered onto a spreadsheet using database manager software. A text file was created that described these data and associated abbreviated variables. Data were printed out and checked against laboratory specimen ID sheets for data entry errors. Data corrections were made at this time. Hard copies of the files were provided to the Principal Investigator and a print-out stored in the project folder along with the original field and laboratory data sheets. A species code was assigned to each taxon using the Fishery Ecology Branch revised species code list. Species not found on the code list were added to the master species code list and assigned a new code number.
