The State of Hawaii Planning Office contracted the Airborne 1 Corporation to collect, process and deliver several areas in Hawaii in the later part of 2005. 3,000 acres of the Kilauea Crater was proposed but nearly 8,154 acres were collected. The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received the files in laz format via hard drive within a shipment of various projects from USGS CLICK. The data arrived referenced to the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 4 projection and vertical reference to WGS 84 with Geoid 03 ellipsoidal values: 1. The data arrived with separate files for each pulse return, therefore OCM combined like areas then retiled for smaller tile areas. 2. The data were converted from projected orthometric coordinates to geographic coordinates. 3. The LAS data were sorted by latitude and the headers were updated then stored as LAZ data. |
