2005 HI Office of Planning Lidar: Kilauea Crater

The State of Hawaii Planning Office contracted the Airborne 1 Corporation to collect, process and deliver several areas in Hawaii in the later part of 2005. 3,000 acres of the Kilauea Crater was proposed but nearly 8,154 acres were collected. As metadata was not delivered to the customer, this report of metadata for this data was derived directly from the data or inferred using the cost proposal Airborne 1 proposed.

To gain moderate resolution lidar for the islands of Hawaii.

Users should not use this data for critical applications without a full awareness of its limitations. These data depict the heights at the time of the survey and are only accurate for that time. Due to the nature of the metadata and ancillary files, discretion is advised when using this data as the metadata was not delivered with the project and therefore accuracies may be above or below the contract proposal cited or ASPRS recommended values.

The LiDAR data was compiled to meet a 1 meter horizontal accuracy. The calibration of the LiDAR sensor itself and the calibration process of the data produced by this sensor ensure that this accuracy is met.; Quantitative Value: 0.46 meters, Test that produced the value: Value stated in meters

The unclassified LiDAR data was tested by Airborne1 for vertical accuracy.; Quantitative Value: 0.30 meters, Test that produced the value: RMSE in meters of unclassified LiDAR

Datasets contain complete coverage of tiles

Deliverables were tested by Airborne1 for vertical accuracy. All data are seamless from one tile to the next, no gaps or no data areas.
