Summary

Abstract

This contains fish count and specimen total length information.

It was created by the export of data from an SQL Server database.

If count = 0, a code of '-999' in measurement column indicates nothing to measure for given record or sample.

If count ≥1, a code of '-999' in measurement column indicates damaged specimens unable to measure.

Frequency distributions include up to a total of 20 individuals measured per taxon for a given station. Under the protocol used for this project only, the largest and smallest specimen was located, removed, and measured first, then all specimens up to 18 additional were measured.

A subsample was selected and measured at random from the remainder of the sample if over 20 specimens. Therefore, minimum and maximum lengths for each taxon and station are found on this Fish Length Table.

Minimum and maximum length were not transferred to the fish mass table.'

Description

Table contains fish count and individual length information. If count = 0, a code of '-999' in measurement column indicates nothing to measure for given record or sample. If count ≥1, a code of '-999' in measurement column indicates damaged specimens unable to measure. If fish taxon was subsampled, code '-999' in measurement column refers to number of specimens above subsample size that were not measured. Empty length column indicates parameter was not measured.

Number of individuals of a given taxon measured and/or unmeasured
Total_Length_in_mm
Numeric
Specimen total length in millimeters. Code '-999' in length column indicates either no specimens of given taxon collected (count = 0) or a damaged specimen not measured. If sample was subsampled, code '-999' in length column represents remaining number of specimens above subsample size not measured. If column empty, TL was not measured.

NUMBER
Specimen standard length in millimeters. Code '-999' in length column indicates either no specimens of given taxon collected (count = 0) or a damaged specimen not measured. If sample was subsampled, code '-999' in length column represents remaining number of specimens above subsample size not measured. If column empty, SL was not measured.

Supplemental Information:

Taxon was subsampled for measurement purposes if sample contained >20 specimens, as explained below. If subsampled, a code '-999' in measurement column represents the number of specimens above 20 total that remain unmeasured. Empty length column indicates parameter was not measured.
