NOAA Fisheries announces a valid specified fishing agreement between the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the Hawaii Longline Association.

The agreement allocates up to 1,500 metric tons of CNMI’s 2023 longline bigeye tuna limit to U.S. longline fishing vessels. The agreement supports the long-term sustainability of fishery resources of the U.S. Pacific Islands, and fisheries development in the CNMI.

The start date for attributing 2023 bigeye tuna catch to the CNMI under the agreement is October 8, 2023.
