Summary

Amendment 49 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Snapper Grouper Fishery of the South Atlantic Region (FMP) would revise the acceptable biological catch, annual catch limits, annual optimum yield, and sector allocations for greater amberjack in the South Atlantic based on the results of the latest stock assessment. Other actions would modify the commercial minimum size limit, the commercial season 1 and season 2 trip limits, and the April spawning closure for greater amberjack. The plan amendment would also remove recreational annual catch targets for snapper grouper species, which are not actively being used in the management of species under the FMP.
