IB 00-52: NMFS Amends Prohibited Species Bycatch Allowances to Reflect Reduced Trawl Limits for Pacific Halibut and Crab

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is amending the prohibited species bycatch allowances of Pacific halibut and crab for trawl gear published in the Final 2000 Harvest Specifications for the Groundfish Fishery of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands. This action is effective 12 noon, Alaska local time, June 15, 2000, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to reflect reduced PSC limits for Pacific halibut and crab implemented under Amendment 57 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Groundfish Fishery of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Area.

NMFS is amending Table 7 of the Final 2000 Harvest Specifications for Groundfish of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands to read as published in this Federal Register notice.
