IB 01-16: NMFS Provides Corrected Steller Sea Lion Protection Area Table

February 26, 2001 - 11:00 a.m.

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is in the process of correcting the emergency interim rule for the 2001 Steller Sea Lion Protection Measures and the 2001 Harvest Specifications published in the Federal Register January 22, 2001, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

Table 21 in the regulations (66 FR 7276) lists the Steller sea lion protection areas in the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands and the Gulf of Alaska. A number of columns in Table 21 were not printed in the Federal Register. Table 21 will be reprinted, in its entirety, with other corrections to this emergency interim rule. Until the corrections are published in the Federal Register, the correct Table 21 may be found at the NMFS Alaska Region home page under Steller sea lion protection measures. Coordinates for Great Sitkin and Rugged Island were corrected from the coordinates that appear in the January 22, 2001 emergency rule.

This information bulletin only provides notice of a regulatory change. For the purposes of complying with the regulatory change, you are advised to see the actual text in the Code of Federal Regulations.
