The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Region, and the United States Coast Guard, North Pacific Regional Fisheries Training Center (USCG) will present workshops for the fishing industry on 2003 recordkeeping and reporting (R&R) requirements for fisheries of the exclusive economic zone off Alaska, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.
Regulations implementing R&R requirements are found at 50 CFR part 679. The workshops will present groundfish and Individual Fishing Quota (IFQ) R&R requirements along with instructions for completion and submittal of the required forms and logsheets, including new electronic submittal options. Suggestions, questions, and feedback from participants on new and existing procedures and regulations are welcome. The workshops are scheduled as follows:

Tentative workshops in Dutch Harbor, Kodiak, and Sitka are being considered. Suggestions and recommendations on scheduling these tentative workshops or on holding workshops at other times and places are welcome.
