IB 17-32: NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Deep-water Species by Vessels Using Trawl Gear in the Gulf of Alaska

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for species comprising the deep-water species category by vessels using trawl gear in the Gulf of Alaska (GOA), effective 1200 hours, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), May 15, 2017, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the 2017 groundfish total allowable catch specified for the species comprising the deep-water species category in the GOA. Other closures remain in full force and effect.

This information bulletin only provides notice of a regulatory change. For the purposes of complying with the regulatory change, you are advised to see the actual text of the regulation in the Code of Federal Regulations.
