IB 17-56: NMFS Reallocates Atka Mackerel from the Bering Sea Subarea and Eastern Aleutian Island District Incidental Catch Allowance to the Amendment 80 Cooperatives in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is reallocating the projected unused amount of the 2017 Atka mackerel incidental catch allowance (ICA) for the Bering Sea subarea and Eastern Aleutian Islands District (BS/EAI) to the Amendment 80 cooperative allocations in the BS/EAI of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI), according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

The following table summarizes the reallocation in metric tons:

This action is necessary to allow the 2017 total allowable catch of Atka mackerel in the BS/EAI to be fully harvested and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.91(f).  This action does not imply any change in the status of the fisheries.
