IB 99-112: NMFS Closes Pollock in Statistical Area 620 of the GOA

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting directed fishing for pollock in Statistical Area 620 (between 154 degrees and 159 degrees W. longitudes) of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA), effective 12 noon, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), September 20, 1999, until 12 noon, A.l.t., September 25, 1999, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action closes the C season fishery. It is necessary to prevent exceeding the third seasonal allowance of pollock total allowable catch in this area and allows the D season to begin on the opening date above. It is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1)(iii) and 679.23(d)(3)(iv).

After the effective date of this closure, the maximum retainable bycatch amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
