The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announces that directed fishing for pollock in Statistical Area 620 (between 154 and 159 degrees W. longitudes) of the Gulf of Alaska is open effective immediately until further notice, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.
NMFS had posted an information bulletin on September 16, 1999, announcing the closure of directed fishing for pollock in Statistical Area 620 of the GOA effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), September 20, 1999. The Regional Administrator subsequently determined that sufficient amounts of pollock remain in the C seasonal allowance. As a result, directed fishing for pollock in Statistical Area 620 of the GOA is authorized effective immediately. Because the C fishing season remains open, the D fishing season will not start on September 25, 1999, as previously announced in the September 16, 1999 information bulletin.
Other closures remain in full force and effect.
