IB 99-6: NMFS Announces Closing Offshore Pacific Cod and Pollock in the GOA

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is closing directed fishing for Pacific cod and pollock by vessels catching these species for processing by the offshore component in the Gulf of Alaska, effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, January 20, 1999, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the amount of the 1999 interim total allowable catch of Pacific cod and pollock allocated to vessels catching these species for processing by the offshore component in the Gulf of Alaska and is issued pursuant to 679.20(d)(1)(iii).

After the effective date of this closure, maximum retainable bycatch amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.

This information bulletin provides notice that a regulatory change has occurred. Do not rely upon it to guide you in complying with the new regulatory change.
