IB 99-74: NMFS Opens the Deep-Water Species Trawl Fishery in the GOA

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for species that comprise the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) deep-water species trawl fishery, that are not otherwise closed to directed fishing under 50 CFR 679.20, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This opening is effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, August 6, 1999.

This action is necessary to fully utilize the third seasonal apportionment of the 1999 Pacific halibut bycatch allowance specified to the deep-water species trawl fishery in the GOA.

All other closures remain in full force and effect.

This information bulletin provides notice that a regulatory change has occurred. Do not rely upon it to guide you in complying with the regulatory change.
