IB 99-86: NMFS Closing Pacific Ocean Perch in the West Yakutat District of the GOA

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is closing directed fishing for Pacific ocean perch in the West Yakutat District (Statistical Area 640, between 140 degrees and 147 degrees W. longitudes) of the Gulf of Alaska, effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, August 16, 1999, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 1999 total allowable catch of Pacific ocean perch for this area and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1)(iii).

After the effective date of this closure, maximum retainable bycatch amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.

This information bulletin provides notice that a regulatory change has occurred. Do not rely upon it to guide you in complying with the new regulatory change.
