IB 99-90: NMFS Opening Inshore Component Pacific Cod in the Central GOA

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening the directed Pacific cod fishery by vessels catching Pacific cod for processing by the inshore component in the Central Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska management area. This opening is effective 12 noon, Alaska local time, September 1, 1999, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully utilize the total allowable catch of Pacific cod in that area. Other closures remain in full force and effect. Vessel operators are reminded that the directed fisheries for groundfish with trawl and hook-and-line gear are closed. See information bulletins 99-61 and 99-89.

This information bulletin provides notice that a regulatory change has occurred. Do not rely upon it to guide you in complying with the regulatory change.
