Alesia Read

Chief of Staff

Dr. Alesia Read joined NOAA Fisheries in 2011 from a PhD Program at the University of New Hampshire where her doctoral work focused on assessing the role of environmental groups within the federal fishery management council process. In her current position, she is the Chief of Staff for the Office of Habitat Conservation.

Before joining NOAA, she held positions with the Maryland Sea Grant Program and American Fisheries Society. Dr. Read gained extensive field experience and knowledge in fisheries science while earning a Master's of Science in Fisheries at NC State University while assessing spawning habitat for American shad. Her initial love of all things fisheries came about while working for Mote Marine Laboratory in Florida in the snook stock enhancement program after completing her B.S. in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
