Christopher Powers

Research Biologist

Chris earned a BS in Marine Science and Biochemistry from East Stroudsburg University, an MS in marine science from the University of New England, and a PhD in Biological and Environmental Science at the University of Rhode Island. Chris joined the NOAA Milford Laboratory in 2024. His research involves the analysis of molecular sequencing data with a particular focus on amplicon sequencing data analysis. Chris examines ways to better optimize analysis pipelines, from taxonomic assignment to species abundance and diversity analysis.
