The fourth National Saltwater Recreational Fisheries Summit is scheduled for March 29-30, 2022 in Arlington, Virginia. We are planning on an in-person meeting, with the option for live streaming of the plenary sessions. Any changes to this status will be posted to this event webpage and the Eventbrite registration page.
The theme for the 2022 Summit is Recreational Fisheries in a Time of Change. Our world is experiencing substantial change that is affecting many facets of life, including our oceans and fisheries. Climate change, novel uses of ocean space, new technologies, and more, offer both challenges and opportunities for collaboration to safeguard and improve the state of recreational fisheries. The recreational fishing community, managers, and scientists must work together to understand and adapt to these changes to ensure abundant and sustainable recreational fishing opportunities for this generation and the next.
The Summit is being organized by NOAA Fisheries and the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, in collaboration with a Steering Committee of marine recreational fishery representatives throughout the coastal U.S. The Summit is supported by a facilitation team led by Tidal Bay Consulting.
NOAA Fisheries solicited topics for the Summit through a number of regional constituent meetings (refer to the Roundtable Meeting Summaries linked under Key Documents). These topics were considered through discussions with the organizers, Steering Committee members, and meeting facilitators. Check this webpage frequently for updates on the agenda (see Schedule tabs below), other meeting materials, and travel information.
