Louisa has a B.S. in Wildlife, Fisheries and Conservation Biology from the University of California, Davis. Her introduction to passive acoustic monitoring took place at Acadia National Park in Maine, where she served as the 2024 Cathy and Jim Gero Early Career Fellow in Science Research at Schoodic Institute. While there, she worked with National Park Service scientists to develop a bioacoustics program to study the effects of wetland restoration on migratory birds in the Northeast and map corresponding fine-scale spatial changes to avian occurrence within the park. She joined the Passive Acoustics Branch in 2026 and works on the Sound Ecology team to quantify soundscapes across U.S. marine areas.
