Sadie coordinates oil spill response and planning efforts for NOAA Fisheries in the Alaska Region, including collaborating with partner agencies to reduce the risk of oil spill impacts on wildlife and habitat and to meet Oil Pollution Act, Endangered Species Act, and Marine Mammal Protection Act mandates. Sadie is an Assistant Stranding Program Coordinator responsible for responding to or facilitating responses to stranded marine mammals under NOAA Fisheries’ jurisdiction, and providing information to the public about strandings. Data collected by this program are used to better understand stressors to these species and to prioritize efforts to manage and protect populations. Sadie leads the AKR Large Whale Entanglement Response Program and engages in the ESA Section 7 Team to mitigate stressors to marine mammals in Alaska. She earned her B.S. in Wildlife Management at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and M.S. in Wildlife Science at Oregon State University.
