Biological Opinion on Continued Operation of the Hawaii-based Deep-set Pelagic Longline Fishery on Endangered Species Act Listed Species

September 19, 2014

NOAA Fisheries' biological opinion proposing the continued operation of the Hawaii deep-set pelagic longline fishery as managed under the existing regulatory framework.

This opinion proposes the continued operation of the Hawaii deep-set pelagic longline fishery (deep-set fishery) as currently managed under the existing regulatory framework. NOAA Fisheries anticipates the deep-set fishery to continue to operate largely unchanged in terms of fishing location, the number of vessels, catch rates of target, non-target, and bycatch species, depth of hooks, or deployment techniques in setting longline gear.
