RIR/IRFA for Amendments to the Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Groundfish of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI) and the BSAI Crab FMP to Revise the Pribilof Islands Blue King Crab Rebuilding Plan - Amendments 43 and 103

July 10, 2014

This Regulatory Impact Review/Initial Regulatory Flexibility Analysis (RIR/IRFA) evaluates a suite of spatial closure alternatives, affecting groundfish fisheries, around the Pribilof Islands in the Bering Sea.

Proposed in Amendment 43 to the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands King and Tanner Crabs Management Plan and proposed Amendment 103 to the Groundfish of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Plan. These alternatives are being proposed to reduce prohibited species catch (PSC) of Pribilof Island Blue King Crab, (PBIKC) which is presently in an overfished status, as part of a revised rebuilding plan and in order to enhance the long term sustainability of the PIBKC stock.
