Lauren Westcott

Lauren Westcott is a Communications Specialist for NOAA Fisheries Southeast Regional Office. She brings nearly a decade of experience working in U.S. federal government public affairs and communications offices and specializes in strategic communications, media relations, social media strategy, and crisis communications. Lauren has previously worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Agency for International Development, and U.S. Office of Personnel Management. 

Prior to her government career, Lauren was a television news producer for WWAY News in Wilmington, North Carolina, providing media coverage on everything from category 5 hurricanes to the 2016 election cycle.

Lauren has a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a M.S. in International Relations from Liberty University. 

She is originally from New Bern, North Carolina and brings a personal passion for preserving aquatic ecosystems and marine species to NOAA Fisheries. She is an avid angler and spends her weekends fishing at Fort De Soto State Park.
