Control Date for Limited Access General Category Permit Category Changes in the Northern Gulf of Maine Scallop Fishery

On January 24, 2023, the New England Fishery Management Council voted to request that NOAA Fisheries establish a control date for Limited Access General Category (LAGC) permit category changes in the Northern Gulf of Maine (NGOM).

Through an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, NOAA Fisheries seeks comments on a proposed June 1, 2023 control date for LAGC permit category changes in the NGOM.

This action does not affect LAGC permit category changes into the NGOM. The Council may choose to use this control date or some other qualification criteria in the event that the Council decides to limit permit category changes, or the Council may choose to take no further action.
