Summary

NOAA Fisheries and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announce the initiation of a 5-year review for the Kemp's ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys kempii). We are required by the Endangered Species Act to conduct 5-year reviews to ensure that the species' listing status remains accurate. The 5-year review must be based on the best scientific and commercial data available at the time of the review. We request submission of any such information on the Kemp's ridley, particularly information on the status, threats, and recovery of the species that has become available since the last 5-year review was published in July of 2015.
