Summary

NOAA Fisheries is issuing an experimental fishing permit to the Hawaii Longline Association to test tori lines (bird scaring devices) in the Hawaii shallow-set longline fishery for swordfish. The intent is to test new ways to discourage seabird interactions that also increase operational flexibility. This permit is effective March 24, 2022, through September 24, 2023.
