Seafood Inspection Program Revises Regulations to Modernize and Improve Inspection Procedures

NOAA Fisheries' Office of International Affairs, Trade, and Commerce (IATC) has updated the Seafood Inspection Program (SIP) regulations in 50 CFR part 260 to modernize processes and better align with industry changes. This is the first major revision since 1971. The updates aim to streamline administrative and inspection procedures, reducing complexity and saving time for industry stakeholders while maintaining the integrity of inspection and certification results.
This Final Rule published for public inspection in the Federal Register on December 16th, 2024 will become effective January 15th, 2025.
